The International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is observed every year on April 4 globally to create awareness on landmines, other threats and progress towards their eradication.

In 2005, the UN (United Nations) General Assembly declared April 4 as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

The United Nations Mine Action Service specializes in coordinating and implementing the activities to limit the threat posed by mines, explosives remnants of war and improvised explosive devices.
