The National Girl Child Week is being observed from 21st to 26th of this month. National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on 24th January to promote awareness of issues faced by girl children in India, such as education and nutrition.

There are many sportswomen who broke the glass ceiling in spite of their humble background, and limiting circumstances. Shooter Manisha Keer is one such sportsperson from Madhya Pradesh. The daughter of a fisherman, Manisha Keer has made a remarkable journey. At the World Shooting Championship in 2018 she not only won a silver in the women's trap event but equaled the junior world record.
