President's rule imposed in Maharashtra.
Nov. 13, 2019

President's rule has been imposed in Maharashtra. Overall, this is the third time that Maharashtra has come under the central rule.

Article 356 has been invoked due to inability of political parties to form a government after an assembly election.

In the assembly polls held last month, the BJP won 105 seats, followed by the Shiv Sena, 56, the NCP-54 and the Congress, 44 in the 288-member House. Despite their alliance getting a majority, the BJP and the Shiv Sen parted ways following a disagreement over powersharing with the Sena insisting on the chief minister's post.
