PM Modi to visit Varanasi today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for developmental projects worth more than Rs 1,000 crore at his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Sunday.

Modi will also unveil 63-feet-tall statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay apart from flagging off the Kashi Mahakal Express which will create a link between Varanasi, Ujjain and Omkareshwar.

In a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), PM Modi, after arriving in Varanasi, will first participate in the closing ceremony of centenary celebrations of Shri Vishwardaya Gurukul and will also be releasing the translated version of the Shri Siddhanth Shikhamani Granth in 19 languages.

Modi will also be unveiling 63-feet-tall statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay in Chandauli.

More than 200 artisans were involved in construction of this statue for more than a year. PM Modi will also deliver a speech after unveiling the statue.

Modi will be inaugurating a 430-bed super speciality hospital and a 74-bed psychiatric hospital at the Benaras Hindu University (BHU).

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's (IRCTC) Kashi Mahakal Express will be flagged off by PM Modi through video link which will be the first overnight journey private train in the country.

This train will connect Varanasi with other two important pilgrims centres - Ujjain and Omkareshwar.

Before heading back to Delhi, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 'Kashi Ek, Roop Anek' exhibition at Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul where he will also interact with buyers and artisans coming from different countries.

According to the information received from the Varanasi administration, PM Modi will arrive at around 10 am on Sunday and will be staying for almost six hours.
